Valuation of real energy conserving capabilities of contemporary engine oils in engine dynamometer tests

Ocena rzeczywistych właściwości energooszczędnych współczesnych smarowych olejów silnikowych w testach hamowmanych

Abstract:

The paper shows a method of valuation of modem Conserving oils, especially higher quality synthetic ones, which enables true valuation of real capabilities of the oils with respect to reduction of fuel consumption of automotive combustion engines. The paper presents the test results obtained during engine tests made on engine of 1170A1.046 type from FIAT SEICENTO car, comparatively for two types of engine oils - VS MAX SAE 15W/40 mineral oil and LOTOS SYNTETIC SAE 5W/40 synthetic oil. Moreover, the paper takes an attitude with regard to actually used method of valuation of capabilities of energy Conserving oils, determined according to API m SEOUENCE VI.
